What's Happening

Stakeholders
  STAKEHOLDER GROUP
The group was formed as a result of the agreement reached last December by Mayor Nickels, the Seattle City Council, and members of the Northgate community, and represents a wide range of interests in the revitalization of Northgate.


Northgate Branch
  NORTHGATE BRANCH
The new Northgate Branch of The Seattle Public Library is located, along with a community center and park, on Fifth Avenue Northeast and Northeast 105th Street. The facilities and park opened in June of 2006.


Parks
  PARKS & COMMUNITY CENTER
Providing new programming and recreational opportunities: Seattle Parks and Recreation is building a new community center and park in the Northgate community. This urban neighborhood will now have access to a variety of programs and services previously unavailable.


SDOT
  5th AVENUE NE STREETSCAPE PROJECT
5th Avenue Northeast Street Improvements. Provide a safe, attractive public environment. Create a better pedestrian link between Northgate Mall and the Library and Park facilities. Balance the use of the street among pedestrians, vehicles, and transit.


Drainage
  THE THORNTON CREEK WATER QUALITY CHANNEL
Improve the health of Thornton Creek and enhance the neighborhood's natural environment.



CTIP
  COORDINATED TRANSPORTATION
INVESTMENT PLAN (CTIP)
Identify current and future transportation needs in the greater Northgate area. Find ways to balance needs of auto with those of public transit, pedestrians, bicyclists. Find ways to improve freight mobility as well as calm traffic on residential streets.


Pedestrian
  PEDESTRIAN ISSUES
Creating a more walkable Northgate Urban Center is the focus of a public workshop this month to plan for pedestrian and bicycle connections.
