CITY COUNCIL PARTNERS WITH SEATTLE SCHOOLS PROVIDING ADDITIONAL ANALYTIC RESOURCES
SEATTLE – Recognizing it is in the city’s interest to keep our Public Schools strong, the City Council is facilitating an agreement between the city and Seattle Public Schools to provide supplemental analytic staff assistance to the School District as it faces the neighborhood impacts of potential school consolidations. The Council provides this staff believing the District can bring the best possible outcome to current financial issues.
“The City Council is committed to strengthening its partnership with the Schools,” said David Della, chair of the Council’s Parks, Neighborhood & Education Committee. “This will help ensure our Public Schools have the expertise they need to emerge from this difficult time successfully.”
“The City Council is more than willing to work together with the Schools on this,” said Richard McIver, chair of the Finance & Budget Committee. “With our combined resources we can break down the barriers that impede progress in addressing these important funding issues.”
“Public education is critical to maintaining our economic stability and the quality of life for Seattle’s future generations. The City Council recognizes that the entire city benefits when the schools find the answers they need and come out on top,” said council president Jan Drago.
With this agreement, city staff will be given the opportunity to sharpen their skills in a new environment and learn more about neighborhood demographics, resources and needs.
