The Home Resource Profile is a detailed, customized report that shows you how your household uses energy, water and solid waste. It is available to any Seattle City Light or Seattle Public Utilities residential customer. Whether you live in a house, condomonium or apartment, this free service will give you useful information about your utility bills and how to save money.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who is eligible to take the Home Resource Profile?
The Home Resource Profile is available to any Seattle City Light residential customer who receives an electric or water bill and has lived at the same address for at least 10 months. You will need your account number from your water or electric bill in order to log on to view your bill histories or begin your survey. I'm ready to log on.

How long does it take to fill out the survey and get my report?
The survey takes about 20 minutes to complete. (If you'd like to see a sample of the valuable information you will receive in your report, go to the login screen & type your account number and zip code. Click on the "View Sample" button to see a sample report.) When finished, your report will be processed in 1-2 minutes. If you need to stop in the middle of your survey, you may save your answers and finish it at a later date. I'm ready to log on.

Where can I find my account number?
In the upper left-hand corner of your Seattle City Light or Seattle Public Utilities bill. If you don't have your bills, contact the Conservation Help Line at 206.684.3800 or send us an email at rescons.scl@seattle.gov, with your name and address and we will look it up for you. I'm ready to log on.

How do I compare my utility usage with average customers?
After going to the login screen and typing in your account number, click on the "Billing History and Comparison" button to see a graph of your billing history and how your usage of electricity and water compares with the average Seattle household.
  • You can see this information without having to fill out the survey.
  • You need at least 10 months residency for an accurate history.


  • What can I expect from my report? You will get a detailed report that includes easy-to-read charts and graphs about your electricity and water use and customized recommendations on how to reduce your utility bills. If you have any questions about the survey or your results, please call our toll-free hotline at 1.888.693.2169. I'm ready to log on.

    Can I take the survey more than once?
    Yes. But if you completed a Home Resource Profile survey prior to Nov. 1, 2003, your information was not transferred to our new server. You will need to fill out the new survey in order to access reports and recommendations. We apologize for this inconvenience, but hope you find the added features helpful and informative.
